An attar or ittar is a kind of perfume and it is obtained from natural botanical or sometimes zoological sources. It is an oil-based concentrated perfume. It can be made out of flowers, exotic woods, herbs, or spices.

The best way to use attar is by dabbing a little on your inner wrists so that you can feel its fragrance all day long. You can also dab a little on your inner elbows.

Other points where you can apply attar are; behind your ear lobes, on your neck, and behind your knees. Actually, places that are otherwise known as pulse points are great for applying an attar.

Attars enhance their fragrance as they warm up, so body parts that give some additional warmth and a little sweat are ideal to apply it.
